For the second year in a row Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue won the United States Lifesaving Association South Atlantic Regional Championships.
This year’s regional competition was held in North Myrtle Beach from July 9-10 and included 17 ocean rescue agencies from Virginia Beach to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue not only won its small beach division for agencies with less than 100 lifeguards, but it also scored higher than any other large beach as well for the second year in a row. The Wrightsville Beach team is the first small beach team in the south Atlantic region to repeat as overall champions.
The ocean rescue team will be at Wrightsville Beach Park on Thursday, July 31, selling BBQ plates during the Sounds of Summer concert to raise money for a trip to this year’s national competition.
