Jimmy’s at Red Dogs will soon be opening its doors in downtown Wrightsville Beach.
Jimmy Gilleece recently purchased the bottom floor of Red Dogs and is currently in the process of renovating the interior. He plans to open the new establishment the weekend of Aug. 16.
Gilleece said he worked closely with Red Dogs owner Charlie Maultsby, who will now focus his efforts on running the top floor of Red Dogs, during the entire process.
“We’re still really good friends. He helped me out big time,” Gilleece said. “I love the history of Red Dogs so I wanted to bring it back to what it once was.”
With several bars in close proximity in downtown Wrightsville Beach, Gilleece has several ideas to bring something new to the scene.
“I think I’m going to have a country night on Wednesdays, have one-man acoustic stuff,” he said. “Maybe open up the front of it, fresh air.”
