Crews from the North Carolina Department of Transportation were busy on Tuesday, Aug. 19, planting the new live oak trees along Wrightsville Avenue immediately west of the Heide Trask Drawbridge. The live oaks take the place of the palm trees, which were planted in the same stretch of land in 2006 and were removed from the site during the first week of August. NCDOT officials said the palms were diseased.
