5 p.m. update: Tropical depression 4 has formed, located at 21.8 degrees north, 72.3 degrees west. The storm is moving northwest at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.
With another holiday weekend approaching, many along the east coast are keeping a close eye on a weather disturbance currently located between Hispaniola and the southeastern Bahamas.
A 2 p.m. advisory issued on Saturday, Aug. 23 by the National Hurricane Center states although the storm continues to lack a well-defined surface circulation, the conditions are expected to be favorable for the development of a tropical depression or tropical storm later today or Sunday.
