Compared to the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Captain Jeremy Owens said Monday, Sept. 1 has been less crowded with fewer incidents around 2 p.m.
“It is definitely not as busy, Sunday was our busiest day of the weekend,” Owens said. “Although the past couple days the action has picked up later in the afternoon so we will see.”
Around the same time, Wrightsville Beach Police Department Captain P. Burdette said he had not been called in for any incidents yet, which meant things around the beach were ordinary for a summer weekend.
“Traffic has been bad but that was expected,” Burdette said.
