Tropical Storm Edouard forms in Atlantic

Tropical Storm Edouard formed in the Atlantic Ocean Thursday night. An 11 p.m. advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center reported the center of the storm at 17.3N 39.4W moving northwest at thirteen mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

Forecast models show the storm staying well off the coast of the eastern United States. Models predict Edouard will strengthen over the next few days, becoming a Category 1 hurricane on Sunday night.

Wrightsville Beach could see a slight increase in surf as the storm moves by.
