Must read

Children in the YWCA Lower Cape Fear’s after-school program will attend a celebratory Mayflower feast Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. YWCA staff members fill an empty Mayflower moving truck with a Thanksgiving meal for the children, provided by the children’s families. In addition to the feast, multiple learning activities will be offered throughout the day to help the children learn the meaning of Thanksgiving and its origins. 2014 will be the third consecutive year that YWCA childcare director Sarah Flaherty has planned the Feast on the Mayflower.

The YWCA Lower Cape Fear is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1914 as a member of the national YWCA, an autonomous women’s movement. Their mission is to foster self-determined social change for women of all racial, ethnic and economic groups. The Lower Cape Fear YWCA is located at 2815 South College Road.
