North Carolina Azalea Festival announces Nelly as concert headliner

The North Carolina Azalea Festival announced Thursday, January 29, the headliner for the 2015 festival’s Friday night music concert: Grammy-award-winning rapper, singer and songwriter Nelly.

Nelly, also an actor and philanthropist, is best known for his 2002 single release “Hot In Herre,” which spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. He has released 12 albums since 2000, including his latest, entitled “M.O.,” released in 2013. This is Nelly’s first live performance in Wilmington.

The Azalea Festival concert takes place at 7 p.m., Friday, April 10, at the Miller Lite Main Stage at Cape Fear Community College, adjacent to the Schwartz Center.

Pre-sale tickets for the Nelly concert began at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 on the festival’s website, www.ncazaleafestival.org Tickets are offered at a discounted rate of $2.50 off until Monday, Feb. 2 at 9 a.m.

General admission tickets are $43.28. All tickets for the outdoor venue are standing room only.
