Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics, Kure Beach Boardwalk, Saturday, Feb. 21

The annual Polar Plunge at the Kure Beach Boardwalk, adjacent to the Kure Beach Pier, includes a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean and proceeds will benefit New Hanover County Special Olympics. Those not brave enough to take the plunge can participate in other events, including an annual 5k run/walk. The race will be held in Kure Beach and is open to all ages and skill abilities. Participants can choose to cool down after the 5k event with the Polar Plunge. Other events include live music, a silent auction and a costume contest.
