The North Carolina Charter School Advisory Board unanimously approved a proposal to open New Hanover County’s first single gender charter school in 2016.
The Leadership Academy for Young Women now awaits final approval by the North Carolina Board of Education.
The school would serve grades 6-12 with a curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as the STEM fields. For more information visit youngwomenleading.org.
