This Spanish Baroque style church at 412 Ann Street was designed by Rafael Guastavino. His son, also named Rafael, built the church after Guastavino’s death. The construction, completed in 1911, did not use any steel or wood structural beams and instead relied on the elder Gustavino’s patented brick and tile vaulting system.
This is part of a multi-day series highlighting each of the 10 buildings on the 2015 Azalea Festival Home Tour, which takes place April 11 and 12.  For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.historicwilmington.org.
