The North Carolina Maritime Museum in Southport broke ground on a 2,500 square foot addition May 27 but continues to raise money toward the expansion project.
So far, $287,600 has been raised, or 94 percent of a $305,000 fundraising goal.
The museum expansion will include an archival storage room, a multi-purpose meeting/classroom, storage space, offices and more.
