NC ranks fifth for boating accidents

Must read

In conjunction with National Safe Boating Week, May 16-22, the National Safe Boating Council urges people to practice safe boating and wear life jackets while out on the water.

The Council reports that North Carolina ranks fifth in the nation for boating accidents and ninth in the nation for boating fatalities. Drowning is the most common cause of death in recreational boating fatalities and most of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets, according to U.S. Coast Guard statistics cited by the Council.
