Traffic disruptions Saturday with YMCA Wrightsville Beach triathlon

TRAFFIC ALERT: Saturday, Sept. 19 is a big day for Wrightsville Beach as it hosts the YMCA Triathlon, the oldest on the East Coast. The event starts with a 1,500 meter swim, a 12-mile bike course and a 5K run around the “loop.”

Be prepared for traffic disruptions in the morning. Starting at 7 a.m., expect traffic delays on Causeway Drive (Highway 76), Old Causeway Drive, Dock Street, Seacrest Drive, Keel Street, Short Street, and Marina Street. Traffic into and out of Wrightsville Beach will be routed to Salisbury Street (Highway 74). Traffic should resume to normal at 10:30 a.m.

Those who want to register for the event can do so at Two Wheeler Dealer at 4408 Wrightsville Ave. on Friday, Sept. 18, and before the race between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. at the race site at Wrightsville Beach Town Hall at 321 Causeway Drive.
