Wrightsville Beach schedules ribbon cutting for new playground

Must read

Wrightsville Beach’s ribbon cutting for its new inclusive playground is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, June 16, a May 25 press release stated.

Construction on the playground, which was funded by a $300,000 Trillium Health Resources grant, has been ongoing since early April, during which time the playground has been closed. The new playground’s completion was delayed slightly by the availability of one piece of equipment: a swing for adults and children in wheelchairs called the Liberty Swing.

The swing had to be ordered from Australia, but it is due to arrive next week, the press release stated.

The ribbon cutting in Wrightsville Beach Park coincides with the first night of the town’s WECT Sounds of Summer Concerts series.
