Must read

The Wilmington Fire Department is pleased to announce open registration for the Fall edition of the 2019 Citizen’s Fire Academy. The eight week academy will begin on the evening of Thursday, September 5th, 2019 and will last from 6-9pm, with the graduation scheduled for Oct 24th, 2019. This is an incredible opportunity for citizens to meet local first responders, learn what a career in Public Safety is really about and gain hands-on experience with the apparatus, tools and equipment.
Over the course of eight weeks, these members of the community are exposed to many different aspects of the Wilmington Fire Department, from what happens when you call 911 at the NHC 911 Center to fire operations and tactical rescue. The Citizen’s Fire Academy has been a tremendous asset to the Fire Department in regards to building good relationships and strong community advocates. Since the program’s inception, approximately two hundred and forty-five members of the community have graduated and joined the Wilmington Fire Department’s extended family.
This is a free academy and open to all citizens who are 18 years of age and older. For more information and to download the application forms, visit our website at www.wilmingtonnc.gov/citizensfireacademy or call (910) 343-3946.
