Colorful socks for charity

Must read

About 80 pairs of legs covered in striped, color-blocked and abstract-patterned socks took a walk around the John Nesbitt Loop in Wrightsville Beach Thursday, April 24, to benefit Kids Making It.

The fundraiser was organized by Brad Beach from Stance Socks and Annex Surf Supply to provide funding for the at-risk youth woodworking nonprofit.

From the roughly 80 people who came out to the Annex for colorful socks, a limited edition event T-shirt and Jackson’s Big Oak BBQ, the event raised about $2,000.

One of the crafts Kids Making It teaches students to make is a wooden ink pen. Founder Jimmy Pierce said for each $25 pen sold, the student earns $20. With the event raising $2,000, Pierce said the total would be enough to generate $8,000 for students. — Cole Dittmer
