To repair a significant water main leak, the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority crews will close a section of Military Cutoff Road between Gordon Road and Market Street to all traffic heading north beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22. The crews will conduct a major leak repair to a water main located behind the Hardees between Military Cutoff Road and Market Street.
Crews will establish gradual lane shifts, starting at Station Road, to eventually completely close Military Cutoff Road at the intersection with Gordon Road. All traffic will detour down Gordon Road to Market Street. All southbound travel will remain normal.
The work was scheduled to minimize the impact on motorists and avoid this weekend’s possible heavy rain event.
CFPUA estimates the re-opening of the road will occur by the morning rush hour Friday, Jan. 23rd.
