Cristobal strengthened overnight to become a hurricane, although models still predict the storm will stay well off shore.
A 5 a.m. Aug. 26 advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center showed Cristobal located at 26N and 71.9W moving north at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.
