Landfall Tradition day one ends with Purdue on top

The 2014 Landfall Tradition women’s collegiate golf tournament at Landfall Country Club’s Dye Course concluded the first round of play Friday, Oct. 24, with Purdue University on top of the field of 18 with a combined team score of -5 (67). The Atlantic Coast Conference’s Wake Forest women’s golf team trailed Purdue by three strokes at -3 (69) and Florida University of the Southeastern Conference trailed by five at even par 72.

The University of South Carolina women’s golf team, ranked No. 1 in the country, finished tied for 12th after the first day of play despite an opening round score of -6 (66) by Nanna Madsen, who finished the day on top of the individual scoreboard.

The University of North Carolina Wilmington women’s golf team finished the day tied for last place with Michigan State University at +27 (99).

Play will continue Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-26, on the Dye Course.
