Pipeline to a Cure to celebrate fifth anniversary this weekend

Must read

This Saturday, community members will gather to raise money and support for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the fifth annual Pipeline to a Cure gala.

Last year’s event raised a record amount—$158,000—for the foundation, a national nonprofit that aims to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis through drug research. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation development director Colette Odom expects between 360 and 375 attendees at this year’s event, which is being held at the Wilmington Convention Center.

The event will once again auction off a surfboard created by a local shaper to fit the theme 65 Roses, a phrase made famous by a 4-year-old child with cystic fibrosis who mispronounced the name of his diagnosis. This year’s board was designed by Ian Balding.
