Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous had been one of the three remaining candidates for the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Chief position but withdrew from consideration Friday, Oct. 10.
Evangelous issued the following statement through a press release from the Wilmington Police Department.
“While I was truly honored at the invitation to be a part of this process, I have decided after much consideration and talk with my family to remain at the Wilmington Police Department,” Evangelous stated. “Wilmington is my home and I am committed to continuing our efforts to fight crime in this City.”
Evanglous has served as WPD’s Chief since August 2004.
