Late in hurricane season, tropics become active

Tropical Storm Fay continued on its northeasterly path Sunday with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph.

Fay is not expect to make any impact to the weather of the North Carolina coast, but another system behind Fay is showing signs of organization. The low-pressue system, located a few hundred miles east of the Leeward Islands, currently has a 90 percent chance of development into a tropical depression or storm over the next 48 hours.
