Azalea Festival Home Tour: Swinson-Dowe House

Must read

This craftsman style bungalow at 1609 Grace Street was built in 1914 for Albert Franklin Swinton and his wife, Mary Blair. From 1969 – 2006 it was owned by Irving Dowe. He and his family were the first African-American family to live in the immediate neighborhood.

This is part of a multi-day series highlighting each of the 10 buildings on the 2015 Azalea Festival Home Tour, which takes place April 11 and 12. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.historicwilmington.org.
