Explore the Carolina Bays, strange elliptical depressions of unknown origin, during a day-long nature trek offered by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville.
The May 23 event will also examine the pocosin habitat of evergreen trees, shrubs and vines and the longleaf pine savanna of the Green Swamp Preserve, with its orchids and carnivorous plants.
