First responders treat woman at Surf Club Thursday night

Must read

Around 8:23 p.m. Thursday, June 11, Wrightsville Beach public safety personnel responded to a medical emergency at the Surf Club on Mallard Street. Wrightsville Beach EMS Capt. Pugh was not sure who called the ambulance, but he said a woman started feeling ill while dining at the club’s restaurant. Pugh could not disclose more details about the woman or her condition, but said she was stable around 8:55 p.m. The patient was transported to New Hanover Regional Medial Center’s Cape Fear Hospital, where she was “in excellent hands,” Pugh said. A Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue first responder on the scene said the incident was the fifth emergency call Thursday, making it a “busy day.”
