The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the state Division of Costal Management are asking the public to reign in partying at the Masonboro Island Reserve this holiday weekend.
Officials say that Fourth of July parties at Masonboro have resulted in an increasing number of accidents, injuries and arrests in recent years, although an increased law enforcement presence helped tamp down illegal activities in 2014.
