Seven loggerhead turtles were excavated Saturday, July 25, by the Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project. Volunteers excavate the turtle nest three days after the eggs have hatched. They count the egg shells to determine how many hatched and help any remaining baby turtles make it to the ocean. Gleeful gasps greet the baby turtles, who are cheered on to the ocean by adoring observers. Learn more about the project here.
