Must read

The Coast Guard and Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue rescued two stranded boaters from a jetty in Masonboro Inlet on Friday. The Coast Guard responded to a New Hanover 911 call on a 17-foot boat with a man and woman aboard taking on water on a rock jetty, according to a Coast Guard release.

The Coast Guard launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small from the Wrightsville Beach station, while a lifeguard from WBOR used a jet ski to reach the scene.  The man suffered scrapes and bruises on his arm and was taken by the lifeguard to Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach, where he was treated by emergency medical personnel. The woman was taken to the station by the Coast Guard crew, while the boat was towed back to Wrightsville Beach Marina.

“Due to Station Wrightsville Beach’s close working relationship with Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue, we were able to resolve a hazardous situation with a positive outcome for the persons involved,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Eric D. Tucker, coxswain for the case.
