Despite warnings of heavy rainfall, Wrightsville Beach enjoyed a relatively sunny day, though high tides in the afternoon resulted in high water levels throughout the town, including the beach strand, Banks Channels and other waterways.

In an afternoon briefing, the National Weather Service Wilmington forecasted a second band of storms to come through the southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina region, with showers starting overnight.

Still considerable rainfall is expected, with three to seven inches expected from a second band of storms forecast to hit the area, the National Weather Service said. Southeast North Carolina faces the strongest risks for flash flooding late Sunday into Monday, the NWS said.

Through tonight, winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour are forecast through coastal areas, with gusts up to 30 mph. Winds on Sunday will be weaker, at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts of 20 mph, the NWS forecasts.
