Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Presbyterian Church is taking their preschool program in a different direction under the leadership of a new director.
Angela McConnell, who taught preschool at another local church for three years before taking a position at Little Chapel, will implement a Montessori curriculum. The school will also expand the program to now accept three-years-olds in addition to the four-year-olds that currently make up the program.
McConnell said the Montessori curriculum will help children develop motor skills.
“I want them to learn how to be independent in the classroom,” she said.
The Christian-based school is open to three and four-year-old children and offers two-day, three-day and five-day programs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Currently, the program has seven students enrolled. Registration will be open until the school reaches its maximum capacity of 20.
