A North Carolinian who has included Wrightsville Beach in his country songs will join the headliners at the Azalea Festival concert this April, the festival’s board of directors announced Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Country singer Chase Rice, who released a hit song with “Ready Set Roll,” will play on the festival’s main stage on Saturday, April 9. Robby Collins, president of the Azalea Festival Board of Directors, said Rice’s song “Carolina Can,” includes a local reference.

“He gives a shout out to Wrightsville Beach so I’m excited to hear him sing that song on the stage Saturday,” Collins said.

Kane Brown, the singer of “Used to Love You Sober,” will open for Rice. The Avett Brothers, another North Carolina act, are scheduled to bring their brand of folk rock to the festival’s stage on April 7. Tickets for the event will go on sale online Saturday, Jan. 23.
