NWS issues severe weather warnings for Wrightsville Beach, Carolina coast

Must read

Wrightsville Beach and coastal Carolina is forecasted to get up to two inches of rainfall today as the National Weather Service anticipates that the short time period of the storms would create severe weather, hazardous marine conditions and potential flood impacts.

The NWS expects the heaviest rainfalls along the North and South Carolina coasts, which could reach three inches in some areas and create flood conditions. Storms are expected throughout the afternoon and evening. There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms along the coast, including isolated tornadoes.

Hazardous marine conditions are also expected, with coastal waters currently under a small craft advisory and gale warnings in effect for offshore waters. An oncoming arctic mass will create cold weather next week, especially Monday night through Wednesday, the NWS reported.
