Wilmington received 7.86 inches of rain from Tropical Storm Hermine, but with the system now north of the area, favorable weather is greeting Wrightsville Beach on Labor Day weekend.
There was only one reported casualty from the storm: Lifeguard Stand No. 6. High winds ripped the stand apart on Friday evening.
Lifeguard stands are flying yellow flags on Sunday, with fewer surfers in the water following Saturday’s red flag day that drew large crowds of surfers to the beach.  But beaches were crowded on Sunday as visitors marked the last day of the summer season.
