Hundreds of swimmers will take to Wrightsville Beach tomorrow, Sept. 10 for the 12th edition of the Pier-2-Pier open water swimming race between Johnny Mercer’s Pier and Crystal Pier.
The two mile swim hosted by the Wilmington Family YMCA and the Cape Fear Aquatic Club is held in memory of Ryan Young, a former UNCW swimmer who died nearly eight years ago after an accident. Prior to attending UNCW, Ryan swam for the Hickory North Carolina YMCA and represented the YMCA at the national competition.
Swimmers who haven’t registered can do so onsite at The Pub at 2012 Eastwood Road from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.  On site registration is $60.
