Wrightsville Beach, NC – A balmy day welcomed about 1,000 plungers January 1, 2023 into the ocean at the 8th Annual Wrightsville Plunge.
Organizers also held a virtual plunge New Year’s Day with participants from the west coast and Europe.
The Wrightsville Plunge helps raise money for Communities in School of Cape Fear, which aims to help keep kids in school and on a path to high school graduation.
At the close of Sunday’s event, organizers did not have a final tally of funds raised to support Communities in Schools of Cape Fear. A reported best estimate is more than $60,000 was raised to help local kids stay in school.
