Tom Ross, president of the University of North Carolina system, formally charged a 19-member search committee formed to seek candidates for the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s next chancellor Oct. 2. Members of university faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, the student body and local community comprise this committee, including Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo and UNCW advocate Bob Warwick. The search for UNCW’s next chancellor will be national in scope, facilitated by a national recruiting firm to be named at a later date. The search committee will engage the campus and community via open forums to help identify the traits required of the new chancellor.
