Hope From Helen returns

The Blockade Runner Beach Resort will host the 11th annual Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction on Friday, Dec. 4 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Funds from the auction will go toward supporting local and global charities focused on health, education, the environment, animal welfare and individuals and families in need. The auction will feature a number of items, including autographed surfboards, paddle boards, local art, framed photographs, jewelry, vacation packages, skateboards, shoes, bicycles, spa packages and shopping sprees at local shops. Bidding on the auction can be done by mobile phone and online at www.bidpal.net/hopefromhelen2015. Tower 7 restaurant will provide food. Hope from Helen is named for Helen Butler who lost her battle with lung and breast cancer. Her son Tony Butler, a partner in Sweetwater Surf Shop and owner of surf website WBlivesurf.com, started the charity in 2005, which has so far raised $639,000.
