New Hanover County’s commissioners and school board members broke ground Monday, Nov. 30 on a new elementary school in Porters Neck. Porters Neck Elementary School, located at 416 Edgewater Club Rd., is part of the $160 million bond referendum for education passed by New Hanover County voters in 2014. Other smaller bond projects are ongoing, but New Hanover County Schools Superintendent Tim Markley said this one is the “first visible evidence of that bond vote that folks are going to see.” ~ Emmy Errante
